Spring Training Day - FAQS

We hope we can answer any questions you have here or on the site, but if you want to talk through what the Spring Training Day is all about, please email us.


What date will the event take place?

The Threshold Trail Series Spring Training Day 2021 will take place on Saturday 27th March 2021.

What are the Start/Finish addresses?

Start and Finish address: Temple Island Meadows, Remenham, RG9 3DB


Is there an age limit?

Participants must be aged 18 years or above by the start of the event to be allowed to enter the event.

Can I enter as part of a team?

We welcome teams on the event! We will endeavour to always make sure that teams are put in the same start wave. Please see below for more info.

Teams of friends: As we need all medical and dietary info from each participant we need each individual to register individually. There will be a section on the registration form that allows you to write in your team name, so that we can link you with your other team mates.

Corporate teams: If you are interested in entering a corporate team, please contact us at info@thresholdtrailseries.com. We can invoice your company for the places so the individuals don’t have to pay on registration when signing up.

How do I pay to enter?

You need to pay the full amount when you sign up to the challenge. You can pay by credit or debit card, but you have to use the online system, as we don’t accept payment over the phone.

Can I change my distance?

Yes, you can transfer to another distance if it is not sold out.

This must take place before midnight on Sunday 21st March 2021. Please refer to the Rules and Regulations for further details.

When do event entries close?

The closing date for entries is Sunday 21st March 2021. at midnight and no entries will be accepted after this time. If the event is sold out, the registration will close earlier.

How do I get my race pack?

Your race packs will be posted out to you around 1 week before the the event start date.

If you are travelling from overseas, you will not receive your pack in the post and you will need to pick it up from the registration desk on the day. This is also the case for anyone who registers after Friday 5th February 2021.

The race pack will include your bib number with safety pins, a luggage label and your participant wristband.

If you have any questions about your pack, please head to the Info Desk on the day of the event.


Do I need to book parking?

Parking will be available at the Start / Finish line. You do not need to book it in advance however to help us with planning, please do let us know during registration if you are intending to drive.

Kit and Equipment

What kit should I wear?

There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. There is nowhere where this rings truer than England so you need to be prepared for anything from hot sun to torrential rain.

We advise that your basic kit should consist of: trail trainers / boots, socks, a short and long sleeve breathable sport top, a waterproof shell jacket, sun hat, woolly hat, gloves, water bottle, face mask, hand sanitiser and a basic first aid kit.

How do I claim my lost property?

Any lost property found on the event will be handed to the Info desk for you to collect at the Start / Finish. We will take this back to our office after the event so please send us an email if you have lost anything. Please note, any unclaimed lost property will be disposed of after 2 weeks.

On the event

What is the start time?

The start times will begin from 7:30am. These will be given in your race packs and assigned based on the estimated completion time given at registration.

We will be running a staggered start so as to reduce congestion on the first part of the route. Once allocated we are unable to change start times.

What do I do with my bag?

There will be a bag drop-off point located at the Start where we will be able to look after 1 medium sized backpack.

On the route

is the route fully signed?

Yes, the route will be fully signed.

Is there a training plan?

We will not be providing a training plan specifically for this event, as this event is targeted at participants who are looking to take part in our summer Trail Series events. It is assumed that you will already be progressing through your Trail Series training plan.

Are there pit stops on the route?

Yes, there will be approximately;

  • 1 pit stop for the half marathon (at approx. 6.5 miles)
  • 3 pit stops for the marathon (at approx. 6.5 miles, 13.1 miles and 19.5 miles)

All the pit stops provide snacks, drinks, toilets and first aid facilities. These are designed to allow you to refuel you for the next stage of the event. The exact distances and cut off times will be shared with you in the lead up to the event.

Please note: We do not publish the exact locations of pit stops due to very limited space and private access. There will be no access for supporters at the pit stops. Friends and family are welcome to meet you at Start / Finish.

What is the cut off time?

The route is open from 7.30am to 6.30pm on Saturday 27th March.

Please note: Each pit stop will have a cut off time (determined closer to the start of the event). If you miss the cut off time, regardless of the route opening times, you will be liable for disqualification.

Will there be medical support on the route? Do I need to bring a first aid kit?

We will have medics at each pit stop and the Start / Finish venue to help with any significant issues, but we do ask all participants to bring a small first aid kit to be able to deal with their own minor issues e.g. blisters, chafing.

What happens if I have to retire from the event en-route?

If for some reason you can’t complete the challenge you will be provided with an event control number, which you must ring to tell us you are pulling out of the event.

If it is deemed a medical emergency then we will arrange an evacuation for you. Otherwise, you will have to sort out your own transport and repatriation.

Please note: if you aren’t able to complete the full package you signed up for, then we cannot guarantee you a medal that shows the distance you did achieve.

Are UTMB points available?

There will be no UTMB points available for this event.

Can my friends and family come and see me along the route?

Your friends and family are welcome to come and see you along route. Please plan this carefully and note that there will be no access for friends and family to the official pit stops.

Am I allowed to bring my dog?

Dogs (aside from assistance dogs) are not permitted on the route as part of the event, due to the volume of people on the trail and the challenging nature of the course. Participants will do a lot of training in the run up to the event, and we cannot ensure that dogs have the stamina to complete the route or be responsible for them.


What happens if I need to cancel my place?

We operate a 7-day cooling off period – during the first 7-days after registration your fee if fully-refundable should you change your mind. After this point your entry fee becomes non-refundable under any circumstances, including illness or injury. Please refer to the Rules and Regulations for further details.

We do provide some options for you if you cannot attend, and they are listed in the following sections.

Event deferral / event transfer

It is not possible to defer your place to the following year or transfer to another event.

Participant transfer

You can transfer your place to another participant. This can be done via your MyEvents portal.

This must take place before midnight on Sunday 21st March 2021 and there is a fee to do this. This must be made payable to the Event Organisers by the outgoing participant. Please refer to the Rules and Regulations for further details.


What measures are you putting in place to mitigate COVID-19?

We take your safety on event very seriously and we will ensure that we adhere to all Government and WHO guidelines at the time of the event.

Staggered start lines, social distancing, posted registration packs and increased safety measures at pitstops are just some of the measures that will be implemented.

What if I can't attend due to needing to self-isolate or being in a government imposed local/international lockdown?

If due to COVID-19, you need to self-isolate, are subject to a local lockdown or international quarantine restrictions, we will waive the Administration Fee for a Transfer to another Threshold Trail event later that year (subject to availability).

The participant must notify Threshold via email by the time that registration commences on the live event and provide evidence of the situation.

What if the event can't go ahead due to Covid-19?

For 2021, if the event can’t go ahead due to COVID-19, we are able to commit to giving a full refund on your entry fee paid to date (less the Booking Fees).
