We’re looking for enthusiastic, proactive and practical groups and individuals to help us make this a memorable weekend by taking on a variety of different roles such as the below:
Join us on Saturday, Sunday or both. Whatever your preference, you’re guaranteed sensational surroundings and a good time. You could be the difference between just a finisher or a happy and proud finisher!
Be part of the team that supports our amazing participants, who push themselves to the limits in order to complete incredible challenges while raising oodles for charity.
That extra bit of cheering and encouragement from the side-lines could be exactly what they need to get them across the finish line so be that person, be that support!

Work with a diverse collection of people from across the UK and make relationships that have a lasting impact on your life. Who knows, you could meet your future partner, best friend or just have a conversation that changes the path that your life is on.
Most of all volunteering is fun! Enjoy the people around you and take in the beautiful surroundings. If you’re a people person with a passion for the great outdoors, you could be the perfect Threshold volunteer.
Volunteering will give you the chance to be a part of something bigger than yourself and put your own skills and knowledge to good use while also learning from others around you.
Being faced with challenges on a daily basis and having to deal with a mixture of personalities, you’ll be able to improve your teamwork, problem-solving, event management and people skills – the ideal candidate for future employers!
Whether you support for one day, two days or more, all of our volunteers can expect to enjoy:
You will also be entitled to free entry into one of our Trails Series events after completing your volunteering (see terms at the bottom of this page).
“I started volunteering for Threshold in 2018 and I am hooked…the energy of the crew is unparalleled and I genuinely look forward to all the events I work on for them. You meet such a wide variety of people; no participant is the same and many have truly inspirational stories. It’s also lovely to have seen so much of the country I never would have otherwise, the routes of Threshold events are so carefully planned and as a result they are stunning.”
The event volunteer roles do not require any previous experience, and we will provide you with all the information you need to fulfil your volunteer role on the day. All you need is a positive can-do attitude!
Due to the nature of our events, we are able to offer a variety of volunteering roles so there is sure to be something that will suit everyone. The route has a number of pit stops where you can be part of the team to help the participants refuel for the next leg of their challenge and encourage them to keep pushing on. Or if you prefer to cheer our amazing runners and walkers over the finish line and award them with their hard-earned medals, then coming along with your loudest cheer!
Volunteer shifts are 8 hours long and timings will depend on which pit stop or main site you are based at. On the weekend events, you have the option to do a volunteer shift on the Saturday or Sunday, or both if you wish.
Yes within reason. We will aim to find a role and location that suits you. Please apply via the form and one of the team will be in touch to discuss further.
Unfortunately we aren’t able to accommodate any volunteers who are under 18 years old due to health and safety reasons.
Whatever your role on the event, you will be given all the necessary information to be able to carry this out to the best of your ability. You will be provided details of where you will need to be and when, and what you will need to bring with you. You will also have an experienced team manager with you on the day if you are unsure of anything.
While volunteering you will be provided with all food and drink so you won’t need to worry about bringing anything with you. If required, you will be provided with your own tent and camping mat, you will just need to bring sleeping bag etc.
Once you have signed up, we will email you to confirm your volunteering spot on the event. We will then be in touch with all volunteers approximately 4 weeks prior to the event to provide more details on where you need to be and when, and also your role on the event itself. We will then be in touch again in the week leading up to the event to notify you of any updates or changes, and to check you have everything you need.
On the event you will be provided with a black Threshold t-shirt to wear, as well as a hi-vis which must be warn at all times to be identifiable to participants as well as other crew and volunteers. As well as this, we recommend wearing comfortable footwear and always packing those waterproofs – you can never trust the British weather! A full kit list will be sent round to you in advance of the event.
Please ensure you read all the information sent round to you ahead of the event so you know where to go and what you’ll be doing. Of course if you have any further questions or are unsure about anything, you can always get in touch with us via e-mail
After the event, you will need to create an invoice and send this to us so that we can process the payment. If you are using public transport, please ensure you keep the receipts. If you are driving your own vehicle, mileage can be claimed back at 45p per mile.
*50km packages (including optional camping) available for single day volunteering and 100km packages (including optional camping) available for full weekend volunteering on the Threshold Trail Series. "Amazing well organised with lovely and so supportive stewards along the way and at the stations. The stations was also amazing and had all you needed food/drink wise and the first aiders were also brilliant. Cannot say enough good things about this event and for my first ultra I could not have asked for anymore so thank you"

"The best organised and staffed event I've ever run in. The volunteers and facilities were amazing and all the people I encountered in the Cotswolds way whether walking, running, on horseback were all so encouraging. Thanks to everyone involved for putting Race to the Tower on, it was a great experience."

My favourite part was the pitstops and crew, so motivating to keep you going and then having a massive welcome into the finish.
